Seasonal: Waterfront Explorations

Program Description

Bring your students down to our 10-acre campus to discover all avenues of the waterfront. Use this opportunity to have your students learn while exploring the outdoors. 

Available May 8 – June 28, 2023 

Please note: these programs are taught in our outdoor event tents. As a result, exposure to the elements can occur. Please dress accordingly.

Program Objectives

By the end of the Seasonal: Waterfront Explorations program, students will:

Clay Fish
(K–6)
Clay Fish allows students to learn about clay’s properties while using hand-building techniques to create a clay sculpture. Students will explore their knowledge of the needs and characteristics of living things with a specific focus on aquatic life in Lake Ontario. 

 

Clay Underwater Creatures
(4–8)
Clay Underwater Creatures allows students to learn about clay’s properties while using hand-building techniques to create a clay sculpture. Students will discover the fascinating underwater creatures in the Great Lakes ecosystem and use this as inspiration for their clay creations. 

 

Discover the Waterfront
(K–6)
An exploratory walk of Harbourfront Centre to learn the about its local history, geography and environment. 

 

Mapping and Orienteering
(4–8)
Students will learn basic mapping techniques and engage with our site through an interactive orienteering activity!
