Poetry comets will collide on the Toronto stage when Michael Pedersen (Scotland), Hollie McNish (UK), Omar Musa (Australia), Dominic Hoey (New Zealand) and special guest Irvine Welsh (Scotland) take the stage for a genre-bending spectacular performance. All leading creative figures in their respective countries, the collective clan boasts numerous prizes, endless performance accolades, a heft of rave-reviewed books and millions of online views. This performance of readings, conversations, hip-hop and more will deliver a ripe and raucous feast of language and landscape, as vividly rousing as it is feather-ruffling.

Featured Authors

Michael Pedersen is a prize-winning Scottish poet, author, scribbler, stitcher. He's unfurled two acclaimed collections of poetry (Polygon Books) with a prose debut, Boy Friends, published by Faber & Faber in 2022. He won a Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship, the John Mather's Trust Rising Star of Literature Award, and was a finalist for the 2018 Writer of the Year at The Herald Scottish Culture Awards. With work anthologized by Pan MacMillan and Canongate Books, and fans that range from Stephen Fry and Shirley Manson, to Kae Tempest and Ian Rankin, Pedersen also co-founded the infamous Neu! Reekie! literary production house.

Omar Musa is a Bornean-Australian author, rapper and poet from Queanbeyan, Australia. He has released four poetry books (including Killernova), four hip-hop records, and received a standing ovation at TEDx Sydney at the Sydney Opera House. His debut novel Here Come the Dogs was long-listed for the International Dublin Literary Award and Miles Franklin Award and he was named one of the Sydney Morning Herald’s Young Novelists of the Year in 2015. His one-man play, Since Ali Died, won Best Cabaret Show at the Sydney Theatre Awards in 2018. He has had several solo exhibitions of his woodcut prints.

Dominic Hoey is a poet, author and playwright based in Auckland, New Zealand. His debut novel Iceland was a New Zealand bestseller and was long-listed for the 2018 Ockham Book Award. He's released four poetry books and a bunch of rap albums he'd rather forget. His new novel, Poor People With Money is out now on Penguin. In a former life, Dominic was an MC battle and slam-poetry champion. Through his Learn To Write Good creative writing course, Dominic has taught hundreds of students around the world how to think dyslexic. He also works with young people through the Atawhai program, teaching art, yoga and meditation to help them with their mental health and self-esteem. Currently he lives with a small, vicious dog and dreams of one day owning an animal rescue farm.

Amoya Reé (she/her) is a Jamaican-Canadian performance poet and 2018 Canadian National Champion. Her writing is rooted in her lived experiences as an immigrant, mother, & community worker. Reé was crowned the 2021 Toronto Grand Slam Champion and her debut collection, funded by the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts, is set to release Fall 2022.
